There are amazing rainy places in the world that you have to see. Based on the information got from the wikipedia the places that get the most of the rain in the world are Cherrapunji, India, Mount Wai-ale-ale, Hawaii, and Tutunendo, Colombia.

Mount Wai-ale-ale records an average rainfall of about 426 inches since the year 1912. The highest rainfall in this place is recorded at 683 inches in the year 1982. This mount is considered as one of the wettest places. This is found at an elevation of 5148 feet which is the second highest point in the Kau'i islands of Hawaii.

The rainfall in Cherrapunji, India averages to 11,430 mm which is about 450 inches. The highest rainfall recorded in Cherrapunji was in the year 1861 at 22,987 mm which is approximately 905 inches.

Another place in India, the Mawsynram in Meghalaya has recorded an average rainfall of 11,873 mm taken over a period of 38 years by peon of the Public Works Department.

One of the other places with more rainfall in the world is Tutunendo in Choc, Colombia. The rainfall here averages to 11,394 mm in a year which is approximately 448 inches. The highest rainfall recorded in this town is 26,303 mm (1,035.6 inches) in the year 1974.

Where do dead satellites go? Some of them drift away in space but most fall down to earth. In the next few days, a schoolbus-sized satellite will fall back to earth. NASA officials don’t know exactly where it will fall until about two hours before it enters the Earth’s atmosphere. Usually, satellites and payload modules disintegrate into smaller pieces as they enter the atmosphere, and the danger to people is not as high as one might imagine. NASA spokespersons added that there is a 1-in-3,200 chance that a person somewhere on Earth could be hit by falling satellite debris. Here’s a look at space debris found on earth.

1. The Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite, shown in this conceptual image, was launched in 1991 by space shuttle Discovery. The 35-foot-long, 15-foot-diameter UARS was decommissioned on December 14, 2005. The nearly 12,500-pound (5,668-kilogram) satellite will fall over a stretch of land more than 500 miles (804 kilometers) long somewhere between northern Canada and southern South America, said NASA officials. In September 1880 a landslide (the Landslip of 1880) occurred at the north end of the town, burying 151 people. The first known landslide had occurred in 1866, and in 1879 there was a larger one at the same spot, Alma Hill, but "the great slip occurred in the following year, on Saturday 18 September 1880." "Two days preceding the slip there was heavy rain, ... 20 inches (508 millimetres) to 35 in (889 mm) fell during the 40 hours ending on Saturday morning, and the downpour still lasted and continued for hours after the slip. This heavy fall naturally brought down streams of water from the hill side, some endangering the Victoria Hotel, ... (which) was not the only building threatened ... Bell's shop, the Volunteer Orderly Room and the Hindu (Naina Devi) temple were scenes of labour with a view to diverting streams. At a quarter to two the landslip occurred burying those in and around the buildings mentioned above." The total number of dead and missing were 108 Indian and 43 British nationals. A recreation area known as 'The Flats' was later built on the site and a new temple was also erected. The Lost Gardens of Heligane, near the town Mevagizi in Cornwall, are among the most popular botanical gardens in the UK. Garden is decorated in the typical style of the nineteenth century under the name "gardenesk", divided into zones with different shapes and different design layout.

The gardens were created by members of the Cornish Tremayne family for the period from the mid 18 th century to the early 20 th century and they still are part of the family property Heligan. The gardens were abandoned after the First World War, and restored only in 1990. The recovery process is featured in several popular television programs and books.

The greatness of nature has no bounds. From the smallest grain of sand to the highest mountains, each has a sense of meaning and destination. Scientists say that mountains were created as a result of the shifts of the earth’s crust, but I believe that there is some force that knows what it’s doing and has some plan for all of us. I envy people who got a chance to see the magnificent beauty of these mountains (the world’s tallest) with their own eyes, but I want to thank every photographer whose photo we are showcasing today for giving us a chance to visit the places they’ve been and see the wondrous sights they’ve seen.
The Himalayas are among the youngest mountain ranges on the planet (about 50 million years old), and they are the home of the world’s highest peaks. In Nepali, “himal” means “snow-covered mountain” which in a single word beautifully describes what a traveler sees. The mountain range stretches across six countries: India, Bhutan, China, Afghanistan, Nepal, and Pakistan. No matter which of those countries you travel to, you’re sure to be charmed by the Himalayas forever.
The Himalayas have served as a natural barrier between different cultures for ages, and at the same time they have had a tremendous impact on South Asian teachings and beliefs. Many Himalayan peaks are sacred in both Hinduism and Buddhism and there are many folk tales about these graceful mountains that are passed on from fathers to sons.

1. Everest

Everest is the highest mountain in the world. It was named after George Everest, a geographer who studied India in the 19th century. The mountain is located on the border between Nepal and Tibet, and its height is 29,035.44 feet (8,850 meters) which is like 17 Taipei Towers! Everest is the sacred dream of all the mountain climbers. Every year despite all the dangers and high costs, hundreds of people try conquering the mountain.

2. K2

K2 peak, located on the territory of Pakistan, is 28,169 feet (8,611 meters) high and is the second highest mountain in the world. People also call it the “Savage Mountain” since the ascent is very difficult. The death statistics are terrifying — for every four people who have reached the summit, one has died trying.

3. Kangchenjunga

In the Nepali language “Kangchenjunga” means “The Five Treasures of Snows.” That is because the mountain has five peaks which are believed to represent the 5 repositories of God — gold, silver, gems, grain, and holy books. Elevation of the highest peak is 28,169 feet (8,586 meters).

4. Lhotse

Lhotse is 27,940 feet (8,516 meters) high and is seen as being in the shadow of Everest. “Lhotse” is literally translated from Tibetan to mean “South Peak”. The south face of the mountain is very steep, so the climbing routes are mainly to the northwest.

5. Makalu

Makalu, also known as “The Great Black,” soars 27,762 feet (8,462 meters) high and is the fifth highest mountain in the world. Made of an impressive mass of red granite, it’s no wonder it deserved such a name. Makalu is one of the harder 8000-meter peaks and is considered to be one of the most difficult mountains to climb in the world.

6. Cho Oyu

Cho Oyu, which means “Turquoise Goddess” in Tibetan, is the 6th highest mountain in the world. Though its height is 26,905 feet (8,201 meters), the mountain has the highest success rate of all the 8000-meter peaks. The quality of its route, the good conditions, and its ease of access make it one of the most popular mountains to climb.

Broad Peak is located about 5 miles from K2 and was originally named K3. It was later given the name of “Broad Peak” since its summit is over 1 mile long. The mountain is 26,414 feet (8,051 meters) high and comparatively safe, with a death rate of only 7%.

13. Gasherbrum II

Gasherbrum II is part of the greater Gasherbrum group of 5 peaks, 2 of which are over 8000 meters. It is the world’s 13th highest mountain. By Himalayan standards it is one of the most remote and arduous to approach.

14. Shishapangma

Shishapangma is the 14th highest mountain in the world and the lowest of the 8000 meter climbs. When translated to English, it means “Crest Above The Grassy Plains” which sounds so charming. With a height of 26,289 feet (8,013 metes), Shishapangma is one of the easiest in it’s class to climb.

Mount Semeru, seen with an ash plume, is the highest volcano on the Indonesian island of Java and has been in a constant eruption since 1967.

With a hiss of steam, lava flows into the Pacific Ocean in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii. Similar flows of molten rock have built up the Hawaiian islands over the course of more than 70 million years.

Perched above the lighted city of Catania, Italy, Mount Etna hurls a fountain of fire skyward as rivers of lava spill down its flanks.

A few hundred degrees separates this pool of fiery orange magma in Italy’s Mount Etna from its hardened, gray crust. At nearly 11,000 feet (3,353 meters), Mount Etna is Europe’s highest active volcano.

Lightning crackles within the ash cloud from the eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland in April. Volcanic lightning occurs when roiling ash particles rub against each other and become electrically charged.

A wisp of smoke escapes from Mount St. Helens’ dramatic eggshell-shaped crater after an eruption. Washington State’s volcano is most famous for its catastrophic 1980 eruption that killed 57 people.

Climbers mount whorls of lava on the caldera of Ethiopia’s Ertale Volcano as steam escapes from a lava lake in the volcano’s crater, which can reach temperatures of 1,868°F (1,020°C).

For every person there are six look-alikes in the world. Whether that's a fact or fiction is debatable. But the resemblance of some of our Bollywood celebs with Hollywood counterparts is undoubtedly uncanny. You don't believe us? Take a look at it yourself.

Rahul Bhatt – Chris Klein
Rahul Bhatt, son of noted filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, might be in the news for all the wrong reasons. A fitness trainer by profession, he came under the scrutiny of FBI and CID in a case relating to 26/11 terror plot.

And if their allegation and our confusion were not enough he's debut film is consciously and conspicuously titled Suicide Bomber!

Anyway the minute we saw his picture on a newspaper, the first thing that crossed our mind was “How did the American Pie-actor make it to our front page news?” The likeness is strange.

P.S: To Rahul, You might be guilty as charged for similarity but don't worry looking similar is not CRIMINAL! Tee hee.

Katrina Kaif – Cobie Smulders. Cobie is best known for her role as Robin in How I Met Your Mother. For those who have not seen the sitcom, you should. If not for a laugh then only to cross-check our claim.

As for Katirina she already has 7 siblings, and we're sure she wouldn't want one more. But if they were to be twins wouldn't they be two-rrific? And not to mention the world would have its very first TWIN BARBIES!

P.S: Look Kat's got ONE MORE look-alike!

You must have already seen or at least heard about newbie Zarine Khan. She is paired opposite Salman Khan in his next movie Veer and boy does she looks like Katrina or what! But Zarine being Indian origin, its not much of shocking factor, but what is, is that it indirectly proves that she CANNOT be called the MOST sexiest woman in the world - FHM should include Cobie and Zarine as well.

Aamir Khan – Tom HanksThey don't need any introduction whatsoever. And comparisons between the two are legendary as well. Both are veterans besides being perfectionists.

If Aamir ate protein rich food to build his muscles for Ghajini, Tom gave up food to lose his muscles for Cast Away. They even spread social awareness regarding Autism and AIDS though their movies Taare Zameen Par and Philadelphiarespectively.

Probably the only difference is one attends all the award ceremonies, the other one doesn't! (Unless it's the Oscars, wink wink!)

Preity Zinta – Drew BarrymoreWe will pardon you if you think that Bollywood's bubbly babe Preity and Hollywood's wild child Drew are sisters separated at Kumbh ka mela.

Both were born in 1975. Both are also well known for publicly speaking their mind and not to forget their number of AFFAIRS! If Miss Zinta co-owns the Indian Premier League cricket team Kings XI Punjab, Miss Drew Barrymore co-owns a production company, Flower Films.

P.S: If Rakesh Roshan was to cast Drew and Preity together what will be the name of the film? Twin...Mil Gaya!

Shahid Kapoor – Zach Braff
Shahid and Zach (American actor) look so similar that you can almost say that Zach is his brother from another mother. (We are not casting aspersions on Pankaj Kapur's character here!)

Although both of them do not need any step-siblings since they already have one of their own. (Both Shahid's and Zach's parents divorced and remarried others when they were kids).

Zach is famously known for his role as J.D on the popular TV series Scrubs. And Shahid is the latest heartthrob, thanx to his muscle-ripping shots in Kaminey.

John Abraham- Antonio BanderasThe seducing smile, the chiseled body, sensuous lips and the trademark long hair and the tooshie… aahh… drool, drool! If you think we're talking about John then you're partly wrong, we're talking about both John and Antonio.

Whether its John's Dhoom or Antonio's Desperado, you're bound to see similarities in their mannerisms, apart from looking alike. Although we must admit Antonio is a far BIGGER actor and BETTER obviously, but when it comes to physical aspect the resemblance is undeniable.

Rakhi Sawant – Haifa WehbeYou may love her or hate her but you cannot ignore her. No not even if you want to. She will find a way to creep into your life in the form of a reality TV show, a scandal, a skimpy photoshoot....So, yeah it wouldn't matter even if you CHANGE your TV channel or your newspaper, you'll find her everywhere.

And from what we have heard Lebanese singer Haifa Wehbe is the same. If Rakhi's claim to fame is reality show Bigg Boss, Haifa's is pan-Arab reality series The Farm. Both have cut their individual music album. Both have done cosmetic surgery to enhance their assets and they have publicly admitted the same.

P.S: They both have proved with their antics as to what kind of housemates they can be in a reality show. So it makes us wonder if they were to be Siamese twins they would have made one heck of dramatic WOMB-mates!

Iconic Photographs

After writing about how Kevin Carter’s pic of the starving child and the vulture pierced the conscience of humanity, I’m making a list of iconic photographs that caught the world’s eye. Some of them talk of grief, some of victory, some of happiness; yet, they all reflect human spirit and resilience, how unfazed we can be by the cold indifferent stare of destiny during the most trying of times.

The fiery green eyes of the Afghan refugee girl Sharbat Gula, the unknown teenager who dared to challenge the communist regime by facing the tanks at Tiananmen Square, the 3-year-old John F. Kennedy Jr saluting his father’s coffin, they all are manifestations of life in its starkest form. These photos, these people, they give us insights into life. What do you say?

Kim Phuc – the naked child fleeing to save her life as American soldiers dropped the napalm bomb on Trang Bang, North Vietnam – became the symbol of the Vietnam War. Photographer Nick Ut got a Pulitzer prize for this picture.

This young man dared to face a column of tanks as the Chinese military forcibly tried to remove student protesters who gathered to challenge the Communist rule at Beijing’s Tiananmen Square in 1989. This image is often hailed as championing the spirit of democracy and freedom.

(Left) The Shanghai Baby by H S Wong: The wounded infant crying for help after Shanghai was bombed by the Japanese army. In a world that was torn apart by war, there seemed to be no end for human atrocities. When collateral damage became inevitable, the common man’s life had no value. (Right) The photograph of firefighter Chris Fields removing infant Baylee Almon from the rubbles of Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building after Oklahoma City got bombed. The baby, who celebrated his first b’day just a day before calamity struck, later died in the hospital.

The picture of 3-year-old John F. Kennedy Jr saluting his father’s coffin is heartrending. Too young to grasp that his father is gone forever, the little boy’s final salute was a really touching gesture.

The unknown Afghan girl and her emerald eyes caught the world’s attention as it appeared on the cover of the June 1985 issue of National Geographic Magazine. Photographer Steve McCurry spotted Sharbat Gula, who lost both her parents in the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, at a refugee camp in Pakistan.

Five United States marines walked their way to history becoming the symbol of war as they raised the United States flag atop Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II. The photograph was taken by Joe Rosenthal.

When life becomes just a matter of survival, people forget how to smile. The blank expression of the migrant mother reflected the miserable state of the Great Depression era. The ‘Migrant Mother’ photo was taken by Dorothea Lange.

The man who took this iconic photograph is Alfred Eisenstaedt. Named ‘V–J day in Times Square’, it shows a jubilant sailor kissing a nurse after the Americans defeated the Japanese forces during the WW II. The woman in the picture was later identified as Edith Shain, a nurse who recently passed away, but the identity of the sailor in this photo remains a mystery even today.
